Blazer5 Gaming Announces Hiring of Head Coach Andrew Maxie

PORTLAND, Ore. (January 8, 2020) – Blazer5 Gaming today has announced the hiring of head coach Andrew Maxie. Maxie’s coaching responsibilities include leading the day-to-day development of the team and players, strategy and preparation for upcoming games, talent scouting and more.

“Getting to coach Blazer5 is the dream I never knew would be possible,” said Maxie. “Getting the chance to combine my love for basketball, 2K and coaching is mind blowing. This group already has a winning culture and have proved to be a force in the league. It is important to me to be surrounded by like-minded individuals, so it excites me to be a part of an organization that shares the same values.”

Maxie has been playing NBA 2K since childhood in Odessa, Texas, and he used the game as an icebreaker during his basketball career. As a college basketball player, Maxie won MAC Conference MVP at Eastfield College and NAIA All-American at Lindenwood-Belleville University, among many other accolades. He has played basketball around the nation and internationally in Australia, Italy, Ireland, Macedonia, Mexico and Canada.

“Andrew has a winning mindset,” said Steve Scott, Senior Vice President of Revenue. “He has won championships as both a player and a coach. We feel he is the perfect addition to help Blazer5 Gaming accomplish our objective of winning an NBA 2K League championship.”

“We’re excited to welcome Andrew to the team,” said Cameron McAlees, Blazer5 Operations Manager. “His experience both coaching and competing in basketball will make him an asset to our team’s game day preparation. Andrew also brings a wealth of knowledge regarding both physical and mental wellness. I look forward to seeing Andrew’s contributions to the team in this upcoming season.”
