Blazer5 Gaming splits week 1 slate vs. Utah

Jazz Gaming and Blazer5 Gaming played to a spirited split on the opening night of the NBA 2K League regular season.

Game 1 saw a 17-7 start from Jazz Gaming get wiped out by an incredible shooting performance from B5’s Bash. The shifty point guard dropped 25 points in the first half, as Blazer5 Gaming led by five at the break.

In the second half, Bash became a distributor, dishing plenty of dimes to big man G O O F Y 7 5 7 down low, who had his way with 2020 All-NBA 2K League Defensive Team member Ria. The Jazz center struggled on both ends of the floor, going 5-for-12 offensively and only mustering 12 points.

All told, Bash finished with the ludicrous stat line of 34 points, 11 assists and three steals as he carried Blazer5 to a Game 1 victory, 72-60.

As Game 2 began, it was clear that Jazz Gaming bench boss Comp made some adjustments. Ria reverted back to his normal self and clamped up on G O O F Y 7 5 7, holding him to just six points.

Ria was also able to space the floor for Splashy, who poured in a series-high 35 points on 14-of-22 shooting with eight assists to boot.

While Bash registered 16 points in the first half, Jazz Gaming held Blazer5 Gaming’s star player to just two points after the break. Scretty dropped 20 for Blazer5, but it wasn’t enough, as Jazz Gaming overcame their struggles in Game 1 to take Game 2, 70-60.

Up next for Blazer5 is a Week 2 doubleheader against Pistons GT on June 3, and Cavs Legion GC on June 4.
