Blazer5 Gaming completes trade with 76ers GC and three-way trade with Nets GC and Grizz Gaming

PORTLAND, Ore. (November 11, 2020) – Blazer5 Gaming has traded Center Dayne “OneWildWalnut” Downey and a 2021 Third Round draft pick, originally acquired from Celtics Crossover Gaming, to 76ers GC in exchange for Power Forward Christopher “BreadwinnerLA” Lafanette and Shooting Guard Rashan “Scretty” Petty. In addition, Blazer5 conducted a three-way trade with Nets GC and Grizz Gaming 

Blazer5’s roster now consists of Point Guard Matthew “Bash” Robles, Shooting Guard Rashan Scretty” Petty, Small Forward Marquis “Randomz” Gill, Power Forward Christopher BreadwinnerLA” Lafanette, Center Dayvon G O O F Y 7 5 7” Curry and Joel “JoelLazu” Lazu.  

Lafanette and Petty led 76ers GC throughout the 2020 season, helping 76ers GC become the first team in NBA 2K League history to record 50 victories all-time after a five-game winning streak in July.  

Lafanette averaged 8.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks during the 2020 season. He was selected as the 19th overall pick in the First Round by 76ers GC in the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft and retained by 76ers GC in 2020. In the 2019 season, Lafanette was named to the NBA 2K League All-Defensive Team and All-Rookie Team.  

Petty averaged 12.6 points, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals during the 2020 season. He was selected 89th overall in the sixth round by 76ers GC in the 2018 NBA 2K League Draft and was retained in 2019 and 2020.  

Downey was a key player for the Blazer5 team during his three seasons from the inaugural 2018 season through 2020. He helped lead the team into playoffs for both 2018 and 2019 as the first seed and played a pivotal role in the team’s The TICKET Tournament win, granting Blazer5 the final 2020 playoff spot.  

Downey averaged 14.1 points, 14.6 rebounds and 2.9 blocks during the 2020 season. He was originally selected in the First Round by Blazer5 in the 2018 NBA 2K League Draft. In the 2018 inaugural season, Downey was named the league’s Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year and in 2019 was named to the All-NBA 2K League First Team.  

 

In the three-way trade with Nets GC and Grizz Gaming, Blazer5 will receive Small Forward Marquis “Randomz” Gill and Point Guard Joel “JoelLazu” Lazu from Nets GC and Center Dayvon “G O O F Y 7 5 7” Curry from Grizz Gaming. From the three-way trade, Blazer5 will be losing Connor “Dat Boy Shotz” Rodrigues to Nets GC and Shooting Guard and both a 2021 First Round and Second Round draft pick to Grizz Gaming. 

Gill assisted Nets GC throughout the 2020 season, helping the team earn the ninth seed in the 2020 playoffs before falling short in the first round to Hornets Venom. Lazu and Curry both played for Grizz Gaming throughout the 2020 season and were hopeful for a playoff spot from The TICKET tournament before falling to Blazer5 in the tournament’s quarterfinals.  

Gill averaged 11.3 points, 1.1 assists and 2.3 steals during the 2020 season. He was selected 29th overall in the second round of the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft by Nets GC. In his rookie season, he finished in the top 15 in FG% in the league.  

Lazu averaged 15.8 points, 4.2 assists and 1.0 steals during the 2019 season. He was selected 46th overall in the third round of the 2018 NBA 2K League Draft by Nets GC, then went un-retained before being picked up in the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft by Grizz Gaming with the 45th overall pickLazu was traded back to Nets GC after the 2020 season in exchange for Jackson “Potts” Potts 

Curry averaged 11.7 points, 12.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists during the 2020 season. Originally drafted in 2018 as the ninth overall pick in the first round of the NBA 2K League Draft by Knicks Gaming, Curry assisted the team in winning the league’s first NBA 2K League Championship. Curry was retained by Knicks Gaming in the 2019 season, where he led the league in rebounds, before being traded to Grizz Gaming for the 2020 season.  

Rodrigues averaged 12.1 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals during the 2020 season and was selected sixth in the third round of the 2018 NBA 2K League draft by Blazer5. He played the 2018 season with Blazer5 before being acquired by Hawks Talon GC during the 2018 Expansion Draft, then was acquired by Kings Guard Gaming in 2020. After the 2020 season, Rodrigues was traded back to Blazer5 by Kings Guard Gaming in a trade with Matthew “Bash” Robles.
