Blazer5 Gaming enters THE TIPOFF on a losing streak

After beginning the 2020 regular season 4-0, Blazer5 Gaming has struggled as of late, dropping their last five games to enter THE TIPOFF Tournament with a 4-5 record, 17th in the league. Blazer5 will compete in Group 6 in THE TIPOFF, joining the league’s #1 team Raptors Uprising GC along with the Gen.G Tigers and Lakers Gaming. The team with the best record after pool play on Wednesday will advance to the bracket stage, where teams will compete for a grand prize of $160,000.
The story of the early season for Blazer5 has been that of extreme highs and extreme lows. A winning streak, followed by a losing streak. Blowout wins and blowout losses. Mama Im Dat Man has been playing at an MVP level yet again, notably scoring 77 points in a Week 4 game against Bucks Gaming. But following that series, Blazer5 has only won 1 of their last 6 games.
The good news is that the combined record of the teams Blazer5 has lost to this season is 29-9. They have played a significantly difficult schedule over the past month, and despite suffering losses, have taken teams like the undefeated Raptors to overtime in Game 3. Hood was absent for several weeks, and while 6th man OOC Slim played well in his absence, it seems there are still kinks to work out in this new high-powered offense.
The good news is that the season is still long, and as long as Blazer5 can secure a playoff spot, they’ll have another shot at a title for the third season in a row.
