Blazer5 goes 1-3 in emotional Week 4 games

On Friday night, G O O F Y 7 5 7 and Blazer5 Gaming faced off against his former team in Grizz Gaming. Bash scored seven points for Portland in the first quarter and helped keep a deficit in check, but the Grizz still maintained their advantage and entered the second quarter with a 19-10 lead. The two teams traded blows to begin the second quarter, but Blazer5 Gaming went just 2-for-8 from the floor across the final three minutes of the half, which allowed Grizz Gaming to extend the lead to 36-21 at halftime.

Grizz Gaming’s dominance continued in the third quarter, as the team converted on 50 percent of its field goal attempts and carried a 52-30 lead into the final quarter. However, Blazer5 Gaming didn’t go down quietly. The team scored seven unanswered points in the first 1:07 of the quarter and held the Grizz in check by limiting them to just five points in the first four minutes of the quarter. The Blazers stormed back and only trailed 57-50 with just over two minutes remaining in the game, but followTHEGOD and AuthenticAfrican converted on a pair of field goals late in the game to help lead Grizz Gaming to a 66-61 win.

In Game 2, Bash took charge for the Blazers early in the second quarter and converted on each of his attempts from beyond the arc in the first 3:52. Grizz Gaming kept pace, but the Blazers narrowly closed the gap and trailed 41-33 at the half.

The tables turned early in the second half. Blazer5 Gaming got hot and took the lead with just under two minutes remaining in the third quarter as a result of strong showings by Scretty and Bash. Although Grizz Gaming kept the score close, the Blazers still led 56-55 heading into the fourth quarter. The Grizz quickly regained the lead with a three-pointer from Spartxn to begin the final frame, while the Blazers went just 1-for-3 from the floor in the first two minutes. Vandi forced a timeout when he drilled a three-pointer with 3:56 remaining in the game. Although Blazer5 Gaming shot more efficiently after their timeout, the Grizz held on to secure the sweep with a 78-74 win. For Blazer5 Gaming, Bash stayed hot with 39 points and seven assists, and he also got some considerable assistance from BreadwinnerLA (19 points, four rebounds) and G O O F Y 7 5 7 (four points, 12 rebounds). However, the Blazers came up just short in the second game of the night.

On Saturday, in what turned into a back and forth affair, Blazer5 Gaming and Kings Guard Gaming split a two game series featuring a matchup of point guards facing the teams they were traded from in the offseason in Bash and Mama Im Dat Man.

Game 1 was a true team effort from Kings Guard Gaming, falling behind by a single point in the first half, with Mama Im Dat Man putting up 17, before putting together an absolutely dominant second half to take the win. Kings Guard Gaming combined for 48 points, while Blazer5 managed only 29 in the entirety of the second half. Bash scored 28 total, but got next to no help from anyone on his team, with no one else moving past 10 points.

Yusuf Scarbz put up 19 points and 15 rebounds alongside 15 points from Seemo, as he helped lead an excellent Kings Guard Gaming to the win. MaJes7ic also put together a strong performance, with 15 points and four rebounds, including a perfect 5-for-5 from 3.

Game 2 was a better start from Blazer5 Gaming, who came out and scored 18 in the first quarter with BreadwinnerLA going off from inside the arc. Bash added 10 first half points, and a stellar four steals as he helped shut down Kings Guard Gaming. The second half opened with a strong run of 10 from Mama Im Dat Man as he looked intent to drag Kings Guard Gaming back into the second game. The fourth quarter was a role reversal once more as Blazer5 Gaming went to town, with Bash putting up 37 points while Scretty hit three times from beyond the arch for 15 points. In the end Blazer5 Gaming took the win 79-72 and split the series.

Mama Im Dat Man put up 26 points and 11 assists for Kings Guard Gaming, while Yusuf Scarbs put up 18 points and 15 rebounds to keep it competitive. On the other side it was Bash’s 37 points and BreadwinnerLA’s 16 points that carried Blazer5 Gaming over the line.
