Blazer5 selects Hood and OOC Slim at the 2020 NBA2K League Draft

In Saturday’s 2020 NBA 2K League Draft held at Terminal 5 in New York City, Blazer5 made a splash by selecting one of the leagues best players over it’s first two seasons with their second-round selection.

Brandon “Hood” Caicedo was the league’s leading scorer in season 1 with Cavs Legion GC (29.2 PPG), and was traded in the following offseason to T-Wolves Gaming. In season two with Minnesota, he led the team in scoring but infamously requested a trade halfway through the year, and was eventually dealt to Heat Check Gaming. He went unretained heading into season 3, and Blazer5 picked him up with the 40th overall pick.

Hood made it no secret that Blazer5 was his preferred destination: “Been dreaming about this since SZN 1 and we finally made it happen” he said in a tweet with a video showing his family’s reaction to his name being called.

Later in the draft, Blazer5 selected Georgio “OOC Slim” Bonte, with the 66th overall pick in the draft. OOC Slim spent last season with Raptors Uprising GC where he averaged 11.1 PPG as the team’s SG. Blazer5 originally had the 64th pick in the draft, but executed a trade with CLTX Gaming that swapped fourth round picks this year, and gave Portland a 3rd round pick in next year’s draft in exchange for their 2021 fourth round pick. CLTX Gaming selected unretained Blazer5 player Daveed 3x with the 64th pick.

Unretained Blazer5 players Jomar12 PR (23rd overall) and KinG PeroXide (48th overall) were selected by Pacers Gaming and Heat Check Gaming, respectively, in the draft. Jomar12 PR spent his first two seasons in the league with Blazer5 as the team’s sixth man, and notably won $250,000 in an offseason NBA2k MyTEAM tournament this year.

Hood and OOC Slim join back-to-back league MVPs OneWildWalnut and Mama Im Dat Man, along with LavishPhenom and Majes7ic, who Blazer5 acquired in the offseason from Miami.
